 a -The Indices for a given month of old base (1960-61=100) can be obtained by multiplying the index numbers of new base (1986-87=100) of that month by the relevant linking factors. New series of the Consumer Price Index Numbers for Rural Labourers on base 1986-87 =100 has been introduced for the first time.

b -.The General and Food indices in respect of Assam on old base can be estimated from their corresponding indices of the new series as follows:-


 

 

  

Where IO represents Index Numbers for old series (1960-61=100) and IN represents that for new series (1986-87=100). 'A', 'Ma', 'Me', and 'T' indicate Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura respectively. 

c - The General and Food indices in respect of Punjab on old base can be derived from the corresponding indices of the new series as follows:-


 

 

 

Where IO represents Index Numbers for old series (1960-61=100) and IN represents that for new series (1986-87=100). 'P', 'Ha', 'Hi'  stand for Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh respectively.

 *Denotes new State under 1986-87 series.
