The present edition of the Pocket Book of Labour Statistics 2008, presents in concise form, the serial statistics in respect of a number of important aspects of labour, covering information on employment, wages and earnings, prices, industrial disputes, accidents safety and absenteeism and social security etc. Key Indicators of some countries, ILO Conventions ratified by India alongwith brief account of the important labour activities, both at National and International levels, has also been added. Explanatory notes on various tables have also been given at the end of the tables.  The data presented in this edition is supplied by various agencies working in the field. Although every effort has been made to present the latest available information yet due to non-availability of the same in some cases, there was no alternative but to omit or repeat the information published earlier.  

        Labour Bureau is grateful for the co-operation of the various agencies and departments under the Ministry of Labour & Employment and other organizations of the Government of India in bringing out this publication.
